I am pregnant…
I have struggled this whole pregnancy to stay fit, because of how sick I have been feeling. I am starting a new series on weight loss after pregnancy. This will be my second baby and I will be tracking my fitness journey. Including embarrassing pictures of myself at my worst and hopefully best.
Sorry about the lack of posts, I have been dealing with some personal issues and I am finally catching up on some posts!
Golf: This is a precision sport where you hit a small ball into a small hole a long ways away! You use drivers, clubs and putters to accomplish this task.
What I did: I played 18 holes to raise money for the Abbotsford Food Bank
What you need: A good pair of shades, clubs (you can often rent a few) and a lot of golf balls, if you are anything like me (A lot of balls went into the bush and water.)
Difficulty: Golf is a great activity for those who are just starting to thinking of fitness, as it does not require a lot of exertion. Physically and mentally it can be difficult because you have to hit balls precisely and focus on the task at hand. I would give it a difficulty of 10 out of 10, not for the workout but for how fricken hard the game of golf is!
What I liked/disliked: I liked the first nine holes of golf, but after that I found it to be mentally exhausting. Koodos to all of the people who do well at this sport because IT IS HARD! I don’t think I will be playing golf for a while: I like fast paced activities so I found myself to be a little frustrated and bored.
Sand Exercising: There is a lot of different activities you can do on sand. My favourites include beach volleyball, sand soccer, running, and a little bit of tanning!!
What I did: This week I played volleyball on the sand! This includes blocking, hitting, diving, running and serving.
What you need: A good pair of shades and a bunch of friends to enjoy this activity.
Difficulty: It was hard to determine how difficult this activity was because like a lot of other exercises it depends on what you put into it. I also find this exercise is around a 7 for me because there is not as much cardio but I do find the quick pace of the game to be a great workout.
What I liked/disliked: I love volleyball, it is one of my biggest passions! It can be challenging to get in but it is an amazing game to play with friends!

Hiking was the theme of the week. During my stay in Houston I decided I wanted to enjoy the natural beauty of the outdoors by trying some new trails. I was very excited that my husbands family was on board to show me some beautiful trails, meadows and mountains!
What I did: I ended up being able to do two hikes, one was up a mountain called Grouse mountain and that hike lasted two hours. The other hike was unnamed but it lasted an hour and a half! We hiked through meadows, up steep inclines, down the mountain side, across creeks and through wooded areas.
What you need: I encourage you to wear hiking books because I wore my court shoes and I could of easily rolled my ankle if I was not careful. I encourage you to bring water with you ( we were lucky enough to come across a delicious natural spring.) Also bring a warm layer of clothing because as we went higher on the mountain it became cooler.
Difficulty: It was hard to determine how difficult this activity was because there are a range of trails, hikes and mountains that you can climb. My first hike I would of rated it a 7.5 and my second hike was a 6. I would encourage you to try and push yourselves when hiking but also remember to stay safe!
What I liked/disliked: I loved everything about the hike except for the fact that I did not have proper footwear. I loved being in God’s creation and enjoying the amazing sites (including a black bear.) I think there is something about being immersed in nature, and I challenge you to get outside, keep moving and perform beautifully!
The 30 Day Shred features three 20-minute workouts, each of which features, in rapid succession, short bursts of strength, cardio, and abs, and a cool-down. Sound easy? Think again. Even the beginner-level workout will have users’ heart rates up. (A.T Hurley)
Yoga Meltdown: Combining hard-core yoga power poses with her dynamic training techniques, Jillian will get you real weight-loss results fast. YOGA MELTDOWN includes two complete 30-minute workouts that include a warm-up and cooldown. Begin with the Level 1 workout which focuses on quickly flowing yoga sequences to burn mega calories. Then progress to Level 2 which adds twists and balance poses for an even greater burn.
What I did:
The 30 Shred level 3 with Jillian Michael’s is an intense 30 minute work out that you can perform in your home. It is a work out that consists of 3 Intervals of Strength (3 minutes) Cardio (2 minutes) and abs (1 minute!) There are a lot of planks, push ups, sit ups, butt kicks, squats, squat jumps, lunges, jumping jacks, rock star jumps and a few more exercises!
Yoga Level 2- You do various poses with a twist, Jillian adds a bit of quicker movements! There are a few challenging poses that will work your strength and flexibility!
What you need: Yoga Mat and Weights (I used 5 pounds.)
Difficulty: On the difficulty scale I would give it an 8.5. I would recommend doing the 30 day Shred levels 1 and 2 before you jump into 3! I would also give the yoga a 8, there were a few exercises that I could not fully do, and I look forward to continue to challenge myself with them!
What I liked/disliked: I love the 30 day Shred, this is a video you can pop in when you are watching your children or when you don’t have a lot of time to get out to the gym, go to a class or leave your home! It is not only intense but it is quick and you wake up feeling sore! I find that I can only do this video once in a while because it can be easy to “cheat” or modify the work out even though it is completely possible! That is why I like to only do it once in a while!
The Yoga Meltdown Level 2 is a tough yoga work out that consists of traditional yoga poses with a flair! I love this work out because in some types of yoga I get bored with holding a pose and this work out there is a lot of movement! I do only have one complaint, I find Jillian Michael’s to sound a bit harsh when she talks and sometimes I like to do Yoga to calm down and meditate! (My daughter work up half way through this and so she was crawling all over me at the end of the workout, but it still was great.)
Would I do it again: Yes when I am at home and can’t leave this is the perfect workout!
